The Google Story by David A. Vise
The Google
Story is a fascinating insight into the development of one of the fastest
growing global brands of the 21st Century.
David A.
Vise, a journalist at the Washington Post, explains the creation of Google through
its meteoritic rise from a start-up to a multi-billion dollar international
business.
Vise is
clearly a huge fan of Google and his admiration is clear to see
from the first chapter. He very rarely criticises the company and many areas
are viewed with rose-tinted glasses. But then to be honest who isn’t a fan of
Google? A company which has become so popular it is both a noun and a verb.
It is also
clear Vise shares Google’s hatred of Microsoft and regularly looks at the constant
battle between the two companies as they attempt to out-do each other on the latest
developments, partnerships and takeovers.
However,
this does not prevent Vise creating an excellent book which looks at the start
of a digital revolution transforming the world we live in today. Indeed without
Google, this blog would probably not exist as the platform it is written on
wouldn’t have been created!
The Google
Story charters the development of Silicon Valley and the vast amount of
businesses created within the creative and digital industries. Many have
failed, but many have not, partly due to Google’s success. When you think of
Google, you think of the internet.
Google was
the catalyst for a wide-spread of entrepreneurs across the world to start a
business and employ millions of people, boosting economies in thousands of
locations.
More
importantly, Google has inspired creative minds to develop innovative and fun
projects, products and services to better lives. This can only be a positive we
should all cherish and aspire to.
